Te Wehi Nui
This site currently consists of content compiled for descendants of Taitokerau ancestors, hapu, iwi and others with an interest in regional histories, narratives and images relating to marae communities of the north of New Zealand.

On Te Wehi Nui you can listen to the video korero or stories given by kaumatua and kuia, and browse through contemporary and historical images of places, people and events.

The material has been collated as part of a larger research project and fieldwork across the communities across the north of NZ since 2008. Additional content is also sourced from other national websites such as Te Ara, Matapihi, National Library of New Zealand, Timeframes & Auckland Museum.

The project continues to this day, with new interviews being conducted, fresh content coming from archives and soon to be launched teaching programmes.
